Is this a little square adapter without any LAN ports but just two phone line ports? I don't think there should be a problem with updating over the phone line that is connected to the Vonage adapter. You do not need a network connection to have Tivo update programming - you can use the Vonage adapter, put a splitter on port #1 or have a phone line come out of port #1 into the splitter and have the splitter connected to another phone line into your Tivo.
