Once upon a time IGGY & Svetlana shaped the electrons to say... > My Net Gear TiVo compatible adapter has been working fine without any > problems at all. How do you define "will not work as well as TiVo's?" - I
Perform as well as. The TiVo branded adapter was designed by TiVo and it uses a full network chipset that allows them to offload network processing from the CPU. That gives the CPU more cycles to work on muxing and encryption for TiVoToGo transfers, speeding them up, (Since the CPU is the bottleneck.) So the TiVo branded adapter will outperform other adapters, since TiVo has only done this work for their adapter, since they could control the hardware and the software to optimize both. > Now a ? - if you have another TiVo box without subscription can you use it > just to move programs into it over the network and watch them on it? This Nope, networking only works on a box with a subscription. -MZ -- <URL:mailto:megazoneatmegazone.org> Gweep, Discordian, Author, Engineer, me.
