This doesn't really make sense. What do you mean the status bar is in
the middle?

The status bar reflects the recording. If there is any 'blank' area
in the bar that means something happened in the recording, usually
that the video signal was lost. The bar should always be as long as
the recording was *supposed* to be - but if the green area doesn't
fill the bar, then something was lost - could not be recorded. This
can happen if the video signal drops out during the recording period.

When you start playback of a recording, the 'current' time indicator
should start at the beginning of the status bar. If you see some
other content and not what you intended to record, then it just means
the channel wasn't keeping to their published schedule. If you ever
see the green bar doesn't fill the full status bar area (on a
completed reocrding, it is normal to see it not filled it on one in
progress) then something disrupted the recording process.

The TiVo doesn't know if a program is over or not, just what the guide
data says. If the guide data says the movie ends at 22:00, and the
network runs it until 22:05 - the recording ends at 22:00 and you lose
5 minutes. There isn't a way for the TiVo to know the network lied in
their published guide data.
