Then perhaps instead of ~/Maildir/pending, we use
~/Maildir-pending/new & ~/Maildir-pending/cur.  I've got a copy of 
Russ Nelson's pop-subaddr and it gives me easy access to ~/Maildir-*

BTW, I am not advocating any of this.  I'm still supporting 
development on tmda-cgi and I think it's the way to go.  I was just 
pointing out how I had interpretted the question differently.

It says "Can a maildir contain more than tmp, new, cur?" and follows 
up with "Yes:".  Some examples are listed, but there is nothing to 
imply that these are the only other things you could put under 
Maildir.  That's why I said "seems to say".

At one time, I wrote a filter that placed emails with suspicious 
attachments in ~/Maildir/quarantined and experienced no conflicts 
with any other program involved.  I can't see why any program would 
care.
