(I am still peeping into the group, yet again, yes!) This is probably necessary, I'd vote too, in order to know what's the amount of human/financial resources we have when at the time of need. Some did say that it's not necessary as long as we know they might come back some day. Take this case, for example: We have 1000 members, say, and we need to raise Rs. 10,000/-. We think it'd be surely possible, since it's only Rs.10/- per head. How many "heads" do we really then have?! We may end up realizing only 10 among the 1000 are active and available, which means estimated expense per head is not Rs.10/- but Rs.1000/-!! ...This is a hypothetical situation but has its own practical implications that we need to consider. However, now again, as a member who had been inactive in the group in nearly all ways and means for a long while now, I tell this: * Gmail has its own advantages, for a group like ours, but there could be some like me who prefer getting all their group subscriptions to one id. (In my case, it's this Yahoo! id.) * Having a secondary id - not necessarily work/school e-mail - is definitely important and necessary. * Developing an "interaction" with people is very important. Let the local representatives of each chapter and/orĀ team leaders (like Pavan said) choose some people to be interacting with every other member on a regular basis - through chat, phone, or e-mail. If there's no active interaction a few times, the team leader informs the group of the same, and then we can try to get that person involved more... or strike the name off after a futile attempt to bring him/her in. * Membership fee could be mandatory, I could say, but without being a paid member myself, I don't deserve to say that. (I'd be earning considerably better starting October and can pitch in myself at least since then.) So, exceptions like my case could exist, but I am not the one that should make a decision, since I am among those receiving condonation as of now. ...In this connection, I should also mention another point here: I am coming to Hyderabad this Saturday, and will stay there until the end of August. If I can pay the stipulated membership in India and be considered a member, I might even do that. (Of course, after October, I can also be a "paid NRI member".) Still alive, NaChaKi

Surely many will drop out but thats very fine.. Some suggestions, 1. The next time, any one joins the group, lets ask their phone number so that we can message them any thing important. We will not spam them for sure but phone number is compulsory and if possible let us cross check the number by calling them once, talk to them personally and then approve them. (No landline numbers please -this is for sms right)...If they are very busy guys they can give their preferable time or they can call us on any of our numbers from their given mobile number :)))) 2. Only gmail id is accepted. If they dont have, let them create one. I need not add here the advantages of a gmail id for a group like ours :-D 3. Membership fee starts from their second month of joining and its also compulsory. First month is demo for them so free. Let them assess our group and decide to pay membership fee or not. 4. Take one more personal mail id to which we dont send daily mails but only news letter kind of things once in a month and very very important mails. May be remainders for meetings and remainders for membership fee or to requesting them to update their mobile number once we found that their number is not working for many days or when we wanted to delete their account in case :(((( 5. Any more points to be added?? These are my suggestions but I wish these will be considered when you meet the next time for discussing on this.Actually we can discuss this online too but letsĀ not use group id for this.... Add all active members ids and can continue this thread... who are the 5 participants? :((( We too postponed our activity( The only activity once in a month that too for three groups together...very Bad I know) to next weekend due to some problem..... But this is like a monthly meet for us...we r discussing many a thing there when we all meet at that home on the first sunday of every month. I already wrote abt that in my previous mail to grp. oops..its already a lengthy one... ArunK
