I have the patch for 22b already done. I just have to get it to Andy.
I'll try that tonight.

I think you are trying to hard. I had a 2706 DAC up and running last
night with the asound.conf I posted. Do not try and restart jive_alsa
or anything like that. Modify the asound.conf and reboot.

The only problem you will run into is if the USB DAC is coming up as
card 2 since that is hardcoded as the Wolfson DAC. If that is the case,
try both hotplugging the DAC and having it plugged in at boot. Do an
aplay -l in both configurations, at least one of them should have the
USB DAC as something other than card 2. Note the card name in the
configuration you want to use and put that in the asound.conf.

If you need to hotplug then unplug the DAC, boot the Touch and then
plug in the DAC, it should work. If you need to be plugged in at boot,
plug the DAC in and reboot.

There are some variables that give the default configuration of the
jive_alsa processes. I have not looked carefully at them to figure out
what can be controlled by what. It looked like there were some defaults
set with the capability for an applet to modify them. I'll have to spend
some time looking at that.

The asound.conf method is the quick way to get something working.

The device numbering is going to take some udev work, which I'm not
good at. If any body knows udev and is willing to work on this I'll be
glad to work with you on whats needed here.
