I agree, the Touch sounds great as is, with these and other tweaks it
can sound even better. I'm trying to figure out how to say this
diplomatically, if you can't hear it why denigrate others who can? I
fail to see how this is a con that Soundcheck or I are trying to foist
on the world for monetary gain. How am I making any money off this?
These are simple changes that don't cost anything and are reversible.
You don't have to try them, if you do and you don't hear any difference
you can undo them with no problem. If you do hear the difference you can
make the choice whether the restrictions are worth it or not. I don't
understand why that is a con or morally wrong.

On the section on "why doesn't the manufacturer do this", well some
they DO. SBS already gives you a choice of streaming FLAC or PCM, you
can already make the choice of whether to go wired or wireless. Is
logitech trying to con the user by giving them the choice? Turning off
the wireless when not using it is something I think probably should be
settable anyway.

Admittedly unplugging the screen is a pretty drastic tweak. Its
certainly not for everybody. I'm working on a way to do it in software
so you don't actually have to take the device apart. I actually have it
working, and its even more effective than unplugging the sreen (it shuts
down the whole video subsystem), but it causes the OS to crash after 30
secs, so I have a little bit of work to do on it!

The output capacitor is a real live engineering flaw in the design. It
should be fixed. The DAC is already ground referenced (the output is at
ground with no signal), but they put a polarized electrolytic cap after
it. This is a big engineering no no. In this situation there is no DC
bias voltage across the cap which is required for proper functioning of
the cap. There should either be no cap at all, or it should be a
non-polarized type. As is that cap is going to not be working right.
Exactly how bad it is is going to depend a lot on what its driving.
Which is probably why some people have reported bad results from the
Touch.
