I don't know of any other device that plays 24/96 files, is silent,
plays flac files natively, has very good digital outputs and sounds as
good as the Touch for under $300 shipped. Now if I strip away some of
the features that I'll never personally use in an effort to improve
sound quality, then that's my decision based on my priorities and
planned usage for the Touch. If I could buy a touch without the
screen, wifi, and usb port for less money, I would have done so if it
meant slightly better sound quality. You may have a use or need for
these options I won't use, and that's great. It just proves the touch
is a versatile little device.

The M2 hiface sounds like a great product and I'm considering one for
my HTPC, but it is not a replacement for the Touch. The M2 still
requires a DAC and a computer to function. I'm not saying you couldn't
make a great music server with a silent computer, M2 hiface and a DAC,
but it will cost much more than $300.
