The ipeng is simply an APP that runs on an iphone or itouch for
controlling a SB player (like a SB touch). The ipeng by itself is not
useful; you still need a SB player. The vortexbox is basically a
headless computer running linux and running SbS. It is fast and
efficient. Mine has 6TB of disk space so the files are on the Vortexbox
itself. Vortexbox is free (just a software installation). You can
install it on almost any old computer you have around.

You could also go with the sheevaplug approach have it use the files
that are on your readynas. Sheevaplug runs the SbS software (and much
better than a readynas duo, which is too underpowered), but files still
stored on readynas.

re dnla. Not that familiar with it, but I recall from other threads
that SbS doesn't currently work with dnla. Also some issues regarding
gapless playback, etc. Anyhow, see this thread:
