Sorry for such a naive (probably very old) question, but after much
Googling I cannot find the answer.

Can anyone explain why, when the SB Touch is being used in *standalone
mode* (using tiny server or Logitech server, or whatever it's called
these days) the router needs to be switched on? Does the Touch transmit
the data to the router, and receive it back? Or what? I don't get what
the role of the router is, when the music is connected directly to the
Touch via USB. I know the router is required, because if I switch it
off the Touch stops working.
Any explanation would be highly appreciated! Thanks :)
