Sorry for the confusion. My original question was based more on past experiences: i.e. in the past when I switched my router off, the Touch would fail. I didn't realise that had ever been fixed. I haven't switched my router off for several months now for this reason (although I understand now that I -can- switch the router off if I wish, and the Touch should not be affected). So my original query is now answered - and THANK YOU! I have also been having recent problems with the "music service" stopping for no known reason, so could only imagine it might also be linked to router problems (which is why I thought to ask the question at this time). After all, I hadn't added any new files for a while so couldn't understand why it was suddenly - quite randomly - not working any more. But I now realise it was not anything to do with the router, I was wrong. I will never know what was causing the problem, but let's face it - the Touch is very fragile, so most of us have come to sadly accept these bugs as the norm. I have now done a factory reset, reinstalled the latest firmware, and rescanned my data (or at least a good 50% of it), and it's working fine again! I'll enjoy this period of stability while I can! :) Another question, if I may: If I use an external server, do I need the router to be switched on, or can I just connect the server directly to the Touch via ethernet without a router? -- Dave1972 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dave1972's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44446 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93520 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
