yes but why ? there are many ways to design a functioning network,
using a router is one of them and by far the easiest, configure point
to point communication is possible however the initial setup and and a
lot things need internet so it would be of limited function (no radio
or services or upgrades). (The server could have internet pass-trough
thou and be wifi connected, but a very bizarre idea )
I would not think any OS on a server would be happy wo internet either
for updates etc .

A major point is to NOT have the server in the listening room btw, not
having buzzing fans and whirring hd's is a good upgrade.

Ethernet cables can be up to 100m trouble free...
