Thanks for the reply Julf, I got my NAS plugged back up today, and LMS running. Within a couple of hours of listening the distortion reoccured. I found by just changing sampling rate also cleared the distortion.
I also had a look inside the DAC, hoping to find a USB board like their kits, but it seemed to have a micro-controller on board, so have emailed Audio Note to see if they are aware of any issue or have updated their microcode.
