The Touch started up with with it designated screen saver even if my server was (is) down Im loading the latest beta right now .
You should loose that timer at least on the router , but reboot the thing once a month anyway , network stuff are made to be on hence the deliberate absence off power buttons on routers and squeezeboxes thats a hint :) , the OS on you server (ACER) probably have some utility to do scheduled power off on the computer and you could bring that one up with WOL . If I would start things with a timer I would be good to do it in some ordered fashion . Router let it boot untill it's fully up . or actually dont timer this . Server let it boot up fully . Players boot them. But the importance seems to be to have the network up. so maybe just removing the router from the timer would help ? next step would to also have the Touch on all the time . Another network factor , your external IP your ISP may assign you a different external IP every time the router powers up and by shedule every 24 hours . This could affect what happens when connected directly to mysqueezebox.com . My ISP let me have the same IP for 12-18 months or so , so it semi fixed . Further info on my network everything is connected trough switches except my wifi stuff so server and wired players can talk even if the router crashes ! but i have separate wifi AP so the wif player goes via the router. So the screensaver may actually work under the right circumstance . What would not work currently is to have a squeezebox automatically play after power on , if it's powered you can hit the play button directly when it in it's "soft off" state so you dont have to push on and then play on the remote . There have been treads about the merit of having the player auto-resume at power on 4-5 years ago , there where some voices against this I cant remember all the argument now ? One is certainly the risk for other bugs a *very* unpopular bug was when the player could just start playing at random ,it has happened in the past .
