Hey guys/gals. Brand new to the forum. My level of understanding of
this stuff is pretty low so please keep that in mind when/if you decide
to help me better understand this stuff. I apologise on the front end
if my question is one that's been asked hundreds of times here. I did a
quick search and didn't find it.

I'll start with my setup, then my question. I have a Macbook Pro 15"
(late 2011) using LMS upgraded to 24/192 capability using the enhanced
digital output plugin. I'm running it wireless to my SBT. My SBT is
connected to a Peachtree Nova integrated amp/DAC, but I'm only using it
as a dedicated DAC. The SBT is connected to this DAC via optical as well
as coax. My SBT is also connected directly to my main amp via analog.
I can do some A/B/C testing using these various inputs. The Nova is
only capable up to 24/96, and the SBT can now support 24/192. I have a
growing collection of high rez files so it's interested to try the
various inputs. I'm not here to report my impressions, but I'll say
that I'm often happy with what I hear from all 3 options.

Here's my question. When sending a 24/192 file from my Mac to the SBT,
is it getting there "bit perfect"? Here's what I imagine is happening,
stated in my oh so eloquent novice way. The file gets to the SBT
wirelessly in it's pure "ones and zeros" form, or "bit perfect". If I
select to hear the straight analog out from my SBT to my amp, then I'm
hearing the SBT DAC convert the file at it's proper 24/192 resolution.
If I select the Nova on the amp, then I'm hearing that music being
converted at the Nova, and it's being "down sampled" to 24/96, the
highest level the Nova is capable of. It went through the SBT, but when
it left the SBT through digital outputs to another DAC, it allowed the
separate DAC do the conversion and not at the SBT.

Am I getting this right?? I guess I'm wondering if there's some piece
of the puzzle that I'm not seeing, and somehow missing out.

Thanks for any help you're willing to give!!
