Thanks for your reply.

Well, I was really surprised that it worked seeing as it seemed to
struggle with a 4gig USB stick before that. I was just plugging together
the hardware that was on hand cos I really can't keep buying more things
and having more 'stuff'.

Before I even did this I was thinking I might have to put a 'micro PC '
between the HDD and the SBT. Somethng like this
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221893294449?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
is that what you mean by "similar small computer" ?

'Raspberry Pi' is where I start to do the 'Grrroooaan' thing. It must
be useful cos everyone says so but I just don;t know where to start.
Having a look online and there's Pi this that and every other bloody
thing. I have no idea where to start. It' just a giant jumble to me.
Can you link what I would need ? Does it then go between SBT and HDD ?
How do I install Max2Play & Logitech Media Server (LMS) on it ?
As you see, I have no idea. Anything you can help with is appreciated.

thanks.

(PS didn't some of the 4 pages in this thread just run a SB with HDD?)
