OK . Found out what you meant by 'unreliable'.  

I have sourced the parts you mentioned from Aussie suppliers too

Seeing as the the SB will be sending instruction to the Pi do I need to
do the EDO mod ?
or am I just manipulating data coming from the Pi so I can leave the USB
as a receiver only ? 

I notice NOOB and KODI programs do I need those or can I just buy the
main bits as stated (it's cheaper without buying a kit full of things I
don't need).

When you say "install and configure LMS" where does that come from ?
....and do these NOOB or KODI programs need to be loaded at some stage..
