Personally, I think it's terrific. Companies shouldn't give "quarterly guidance" as that's basically just saying "we're so obsessed with our quarterly performance that we're not going to be investing in long-term strategic initiatives." If CEOs weren't so hell-bent on impressing (or placating) Wall Street, US corporations would be better managed.
With that said, if Palm thinks it can survive another full year or more with no new OS, it's sadly mistaken. Devices running Android will be out later this year and they'll be brilliant. Or at least cheap.
