I have not tried the iPhone screen keyboard yet, and think I too would not like it.
I just heard yesterday that the Backberry Thunder will have a haptic screen which will provide tactile feedback when you use the screen keyboard. It's pretty new technology and can't wait to try and see how it feels using it.
