Glenn - I wonder because of what you believe about Jesus. This is the bottom line. If you are wrong on Jesus, you are outside of God. If you are trusting in Jesus plus Mormonism then that is wrong. If you are trusting in works for salvation then that is wrong because salvation is not of works, plain and simple. The Holy Spirit is God. If God is living within someone, that someone is saved?
DAVEH: Not necessarily. As we've discussed in the past, the definition of "saved" has a lot to do with whether or not one is saved. I've explained my definition (entry to heaven), and still don't understand yours. You have offered passages as evidence that folks were "saved" in the past, and present.....but I see those descriptions of salvation as being the result of the Lord's intervention for humanity as a whole. I don't know if you ever really understood my explanation though.
How can God live within someone and they not be saved?
DAVEH: That's the easy part.....he simply withdraws and the promise of his salvation is lost.
Glenn- You have never understood Biblical salvation. You don't have to agree with Biblical salvation, but you have never even understood it. If God withdraws his Holy Spirit from me tonight because of my sin, it DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT I AM NOW SAVED THIS MINUTE. YOU CONFUSE ETERNAL SECURITY WITH SALVATION. You just can't see it because of your Mormon brainwashing.
Davd l - Furthermore, what more would describe the feeling of depression one
would have when the realization sinks in that the love of the Lord would be forever forfeited when his Spirit is withdrawn for eternity. The best way to describe it would be as a fiery hell that burns forever without consuming. (
Glenn - Again you are putting your Mormon feelings ABOVE WHAT CHRIST SAID. It doesn't matter what you feel. It matter what Christ said.
BTW......I won't take credit for that simile, as Somebody previously used it
quite effectively to describe the hell experienced by those who reject the Holy Spirit of God.)
What fellowship has light with darkness?
DAVEH: I suspect this is a rhetorical question?!?

I have explained to you in the past what Biblical belief is. I guess you don't understand since you wrote below. This makes me wonder (not sure) if you are truly saved.
DAVEH: Why you would wonder about that, I'm not sure. "I have explained to you in the past what Biblical belief is." Simply having the Holy Spirit does not indicate salvation. One isn't saved until they believe AND are baptized (Mk 16:16), AND THEN endure to the end (Mt 24:13). At that "end" time, one is saved by returning to our Father in heaven.
Your nephew said he was not saved. Now he is in New Orleans teaching people how to NOT BE SAVED.
DAVEH: Actually, Jeff is in the middle of the hurricane! And from what I've heard tonight, he may have been "saved" from it! <VBG> I think Jeff is teaching the people there that Jesus has by virtue of his resurrection and atonement, saved them. But until they avail themselves of his atoning grace by accepting him with a baptismal covenant, they will be subject to the whims and many conflicting doctrines of men.
DAVEH: I guess that is what I'm not comprehending about Protestant theology. As many have said previously, all that is required for salvation is a belief in Jesus. If that is true, and all the Protestant sects teach such.....then why would any of
their adherents be led to damnation (due to beliefs in false or misleading doctrines) instead if they are "believing in Jesus"? Logic would suggest that there must be more to salvation than 'belief'.
