Whether or not they portray a different Christ than the Christ of the
Bible has no bearing on the question of whether or not the Bible teaches
us to expect revelation apart from the Bible. My perspective is that
generally speaking the Mormons do have a misunderstanding of Christ. I
do not see that our faith is in the same person. Nevertheless, I can
pick just about any denomination within Christianity and find the same
problem. The LDS sect has some unique features not found in other
Protestant denominations, but that is a relatively minor squabble. If a
person fails to place faith in the true Jesus Christ, the resulting
damnation is just as great whether you are a Baptist, a Methodist, a
Mormon, or a member of some other sect within Christianity.

I know a few street preachers right now who refuse to make a commitment
to do God's will. I consider this kind of error far worse than anything
I have found in Mormonism. A person can know all the right answers to
questions about who Jesus is, but if he will not commit to follow him
and do his will in everything, what good is all that orthodox theology?
Of course, a person committed to believing error and staying in error
because his faith is in his church rather than Jesus Christ is bad too,
and it leads to the same damnation. My point is simply that we are
hypocrites to get all excited about Mormonism when some of those we
associate with fall into errors that are just as damnable.

Peace be with you.
