Yes, Kevin, the KJV does say this; however, the Greek word used here is actually used to speak about his substance and not his personhood. Remember that the KJV was translated 1300 years after Nicea. The KJ translators were attempting to use the light and insight of Nicea. And justifiably so, I believe. Yet it would probably have been better to translate this word as "substance." The "express-image" word speaks to what we could possibly consider his personality (although this is actually a very long and complex story in itself. I can go into it if you like but only at your nudging): arakth.r noun nom masc sing [Fri] carakth,r( h/roj( o` orig. an engraver or engraving tool; fig. in the NT of Christ in relation to God exact representation, precise reproduction, impress (HE 1.3).
