Are you fluent in greek? "Wm. Taylor" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Yes, Kevin, the KJV does say this;
however, the Greek word used here is actually used to speak about his
substance and not his personhood. Remember that the KJV was translated 1300
years after Nicea. The KJ translators were attempting to use the light and
insight of Nicea. And justifiably so, I believe. Yet it would probably
have been better to translate this word as "substance."
The "express-image" word speaks to what we
could possibly consider his personality (although this is actually a very
long and complex story in itself. I can go into it if you like but only at
your nudging):
arakth.r noun nom masc sing [Fri]
carakth,r( h/roj( o` orig. an engraver or engraving tool;
fig. in the NT of Christ in relation to God exact representation,
precise reproduction, impress (HE 1.3).
If you transliterate this word it is
character.
Hope this was helpful.

Doesn't the Bible say express image of his PERSON? [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Are
you saying that 'we become a part of God' as in God is the
ocean and we are one

glory that was given to Christ for the purpose of becoming one
with each other and with Him. "I in them and thou in
me " . (John 17:22-23 NASV).
John: judyt: there is absolutely nothing new

to Spirit indwelling. That is how it happens, of
course. John
jt: The spirit sealing
and indwelling to lead us into all truth does not make us
become "a part of God", he is still him and we are
still us, hopefully a sanctified and purified us - before
Jesus' return. The bride and the bridegroom are not the
same thing.
Maybe this is what is wrong with
using "person" when referencing God. I don't know. I
am certainly, however, that John 17:21 makes it clear that we have a
shared existence with the Godhead. I Cor 2:11 ff plainly teach
that an understanding of the mind of God is not possible apart from
possession of His Spirit. For us, God is not over there and
we are over here.
