For the mean time I have removed Daniel from the list. If he assures me that he can make posts without profanity and demeaning remarks, and demonstrates it, I would be willing to let him back on. This will require some degree of maturity on his part, and perhaps Chris can mentor him in that respect.

Judy, I appreciate your comments below...and I agree that Daniel is not using the street sense of the word "whore", but some see that as offensive regardless of the sense in which he meant it (and, neither sense is an attractive alternative!).

Perry:
Referring to ladies as whores will get one kicked out of most churches,
and even some bars. Why is Daniel allowed to trample the reputations of
others here when he cannot do it in other places? Is there any
reasonable answer? This has got to be controlled.

Perry/Terry:
I don't care for the crude posts either but to be fair to Daniel, he is
not calling Izzy a whore like out on the street. He is speaking of
"spiritual harlotry" which we are all guilty of at some time or another.
Himself included. Just using a few Hebrew words does not make one holy.

If Daniel cannot control himself, it is your job to do it for him. The
sooner, the better. This is not a man passionate for the Lord. This is a
most selfish individual who is determined to have the attention and
recognition of others. If no one is impressed with his goodness, them he
will offer them evil. Anything to get attention. He is not seeking to
glorify God, He is not seeking wisdom, he is seeking to be recognized,
and he will sell his soul to get the attention that he craves. I have
seen the same behavior in children hungry for affection, and in convicts
in prison who had been forgotten by their families. The need for
attention is a strong driving force, but it does not excuse inexcusable
language. Respectfully, Terry

jt: Can't argue with the voice of experience but I do appreciate the
mercy in Perry's approach because I don't believe any of us are locked
into our present behavior, if that were so there would be no hope for any
of us. Neither do I agree with F. Scott Peck's pronouncement as quoted by
a listmember from his book “The People of the Lie”.

"The amazing analysis of the diagnosis of “evil”. There is no cure for
evil
—not even Christian compassion and understanding." Do you really want
to pretend that there is? There is a cure for sin where it is sought, but
evil
people never seek after that. Peck’s conclusion is that the only way to
deal
with evil is with force."

This is in direct contradiction to the gospel which teaches us that the
purpose for the Son of God being manifest was to "destroy the works of
the evil one" (1 John 3:8) and these works manifest themselves through
people. I was reading where Daniel used 1 John 3:9 to browbeat a
professing Christian girl into cursing online because she had not so far
overcome jealousy and a boyfriend. "Let he who is without sin cast the
first stone at her" I believe it is wrong to condemn people or to lock
them in to their sin. Jesus came that we might be free, all of us.

despitefully use you. (and me)
