Who is confused Gary?
I can not recall ever discussing "works" here or promoting asceticism either - must all be a figment of your own
imagination but this does pertain to the subject at hand. Satan loves to get hold of our conceptual thinking and since the fall mankind has been more than vulnerable.

What IYO are works?  Would you say that obedience resulting from faith is works?  judyt

you sound like 'a worried man with a worried mind' (quoting a line of b dylan:)...like Iz and Judy freaked you out or something...

ftr, reading the text carefully, there's  no reference to 'works', whatever that is; it indicates that your original question is rooted in (their)confusion--the type that typically obscures a biblical writer's train of thought

by operating in the 'works' mentality, people get freaked out, become political...e.g., a-politcal zealots for asceticism

but (their) asceticism is condemned, not embraced by scripture--it has nothing to do with grace at work

(grace at work will be judged for what it is acc to Paul:)
