you sound like 'a worried man with a worried mind' (quoting a line of b dylan:)...like Iz and Judy freaked you out or something...

 

ftr, reading the text carefully, there's  no reference to 'works', whatever that is; it indicates that your original question is rooted in (their)confusion--the type that typically obscures a biblical writer's train of thought

 

by operating in the 'works' mentality, people get freaked out, become political...e.g., a-politcal zealots for asceticism

 

but (their) asceticism is condemned, not embraced by scripture--it has nothing to do with grace at work

 

(grace at work will be judged for what it is acc to Paul:)
