Lance, as usual I have no idea what you are trying to say.  I was not rebuking Judy.  You, perhaps, but not her. And have we mentored our husbands to do what???? Try another cuppa java, Lance. Izzy

'Scuse me maam but, have we just been rebuked? Now, by any objective standard I'd say that Judith's understanding of Scripture (that which she says the Scripture's 'mean') is probably incorrect 50% of the time (I'm feeling ever so gracious this morning). That'd mean (utilizing the rebuke written by her 'friend' below says of her..........

PS:This is really serious business! I fear that neither of you two 'brainy' (see below) ladies get just how serious it actually is. Have you both mentored your husbands to do this?

Here is what you said, Izzy.   Your explanation above has nothing to do with your posted comment here  -- except for the last sentence.   I can read what you Judy write.  You two can deny what you say, but that does not change the black and white facts of life and literature:  Lance, God desires for His children to understand scripture. That is why He gives us the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit.  Nothing in this sentence about rebukings or misinterpretation.   Nothing.   I am sure that you can see how I would misunderstand your purpose.

John, You have removed the text of my original message, and then you say there was nothing in it about blah, blah, blah…..  Now I have to go back and reconstruct what you have eliminated.  Since it seems like a big hair-splitting DEAL to you, here goes:

Lance, God desires for His children to understand scripture. That is why He gives us the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit.

But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power (Holy Spirit power!) of God. (Matt 22:29) (This is a rebuke, need I have mentioned it?)

Jesus said to them, "Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power (Holy Spirit power!)of God? (Mark 12:24) (Another rebuke!)

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45) (Understanding comes from GOD ie: Holy Spirit.)

All Scripture is inspired by God (Via the Holy Spirit’s inspiration.)and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.(II Tim 3:16) (Teaches us right from wrong in interpreting scripture for one thing!)

...in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. (II Peter 3:46-48)(Definite rebuke, Smitho!)

Did that help to connect the dots?

1)     God wants us to understand scripture.

2)     God rebukes us for not understanding scripture. Why?

3)     God has provided us with the ability to understand through the Holy Spirit who instructs us (if we only appropriate it by first putting away human reasoning/philosophies to take on the mind of Christ, which is His Word.)

Sorry, perhaps Judy and I sometimes forget that men’s brains work that way (logical dot connecting), rather than intuitively going right to the solution. Izzy
