Apparently I have no idea what you believe.

That's what I've been trying to say all this time. From my perspective you appear to take what I write and place it in some pre
conceived card file labelled "legalism"

I thought you believed that no one can obey the law of God apart from the help of the Indwelling Spirit and that indwelling came after the cross.

I never said they could not - in fact I have stated in the past that God would not be so cruel as to command Israel to obey something impossible. We, being evil, would not do that to infants would we?

You and I agree  ??!!!   Shock.   It is not the work of the Indwelling to bring us to righteousness if one defines "righteousness" in terms of activity (obedience) and not in terms of a gracious consideration.

We may not agree on righteousness JD.  One thing at a time.  It is possible to confess without possessing if one is self
deceived being a hearer only rather than an obedient  doer of God's Word.

Actually, you argued against this very view, did you not?   When you pointed out that Christ was present with those who were told to do thus and so.   What is your theology?  JD

I understand and know the Lord as His Spirit reveals Him to me by His Word.  judyt

When Jesus told the woman, "go thy way and sin no more,"  His second responce was to watch her walk away, back into her own world  !!!    She was not in His presence nor were the (probable) thousands who  heard His message and received His demands.
So what does this prove other than ppl don't have to sin, that it is something they choose to do?  If you know what is right and don't do it, to you it is sin.
And what of Israel  -- all those years being told to be obedient but not really having a chance  --   or what of those in Ninevah?    No Spirit there -----------    but they were sent a prophet for the sake of correction.   Shall I go on?   JD

Who says they didn't have a chance?  God's righteous judgment has never changed, it is all through scripture
that "a man will be rewarded according to what he does"  Either blessing or curse.  God set before them two ways; same two ways that are before us today.  Nineveh repented then later went back to their old ways and was destroyed.  God honored their choice.
