Just off the top of my head I would say that he hadn't
received John's baptism of repentance because if he
had in fact repented from the heart then he would not be in the situation he
found himself in at Calvary. If he had been present at the sermon
on the Mount when Jesus introduced His
Kingdom and rejected that message - Selah!! I can see no reason to assume that this thief would have
been baptized - jt
