Subject: Re: [TruthTalk] Eternal Sonship

Why does He have to be the Eternal Son rather than the Eternal Word JD?

This is a good question, Judy. I believe that he is the eternal Word. If you or anyone were denying this aspect of his being, I would be defending it as aggressively as I am the eternal Son aspect.

To answer your question, being a relational term, "sonship" gives us a window into heart of God: who God is, and how he should be known.

May I ask you a question? Would you try to give me some idea as to the quality of relationship (in other words, what kind of relationship it was) that the pre-incarnate Word had with that member of the Godhead you call the Father? For example, in Jesus' priestly prayer, he spoke these words, "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world." Will you speak a few words as to the nature of that pre-incarnate love? What kind of love was it?

To everyone else, I'll try to get caught up on some other posts later today, possibly even this evening.
