Sorry, you are still doing it wrong ;) You are to write inbetween to what you reply to, not just top or bottom. Another thing is that you have to cut away the parts of the email you are not directly answering. Like I cut away all the other stuff before this. Just enough for people to get the context. > Anyway couple more questions: > > a) From what I am gathering the consensus is that Courier IMAP is easier to > setup but one benefit to Cyrus is shared mailboxes. I gave it 15 minutes once, but that was not enough ;) > b) I am guessing that kernel raid is just as good if not better than the > cheapo "fakeraid" cards right? That being said will I get any better > performance (yes I know better for space) with sw RAID 5 vs 1? Fakeraid is never good, and not well supported in Linux. A real hardware RAID can be used, but a kernel software RAID is the best way to go. Spent yesterday afternoon migrating my home server from one disk (no raid) to a raid1 and was amazed with how easy and flexible it was. > c) I assume that both webfront ends have the ability to setup server side > "out of office" replys? This has nothing to do with IMAP (but some MUAs offer this and then rely on getting the email in first, obviously). To get this you have to hook something to Postfix. I think the standard way of doing this is having a hidden virtual domain configured that directs mail to a script which send vacation-messages and delivers the message aswell. It's not a feature included in Postfix so it will be a bit of a hack, but fully doable. > d) Now heres maybe a tough one... has anyone played with trying to build a > TSL 3.x high availablity mail server? I wander what options there might be? Nope, I rely on RAID and a backup MX. This means that if there is some other failure than a hard drive, people will not reach their emails until it is fixed. The machine is hooked to a UPS and ought to survive a couple of hours of power outage.
