Hey all,
I've got a working copy of the webapp I've been working on for the last
couple of months with some dummy data up on my server now. It's not
finished, but there's enough done to see pretty much what it does.
It's at: <http://www.informage.net:8081/xpertweb/servlet/xpertweb>
When it is finished I'll have a demo version linked to from the front
page of my site with full credit to the underlying technologies...
...which are of course 100% Apache - Turbine/Velocity/Tomcat. (Although
if you're watching the URLs you'll notice that I've added a layer of
my own as well).
The application presents retail performance data in both graphical and
tabular form and is aimed at senior management/business analysts (okay,
not the most exciting of subject matters but the app itself is a bit
more interesting). Mainly it'll get deployed on intranets, but some
clients may want (SSL encrypted) access via the web.
I haven't added any login yet, so what you see is the administrator
level of functionality. End users will have varying levels of
restrictions on what they can play with, to the point where your not
hugely competent area manager ;-) will just have some preset reports to
click on.
Unfortunately the contract I have with my employer means that I am
unable to open the source to the whole app, but I do have an agreement
that I can contribute selected generic parts of the code back (and have
done with a few bits already). So if anyone's interested in anything
they see drop me a line and I'll see if it's something I can open up...
(Oh, and it doesn't look too hot in Netscape - IE is the target browser.
I've actually got a different skin - yep I'm using the UIManager - which
looks a lot better, but the unfortunately the skin can't be configured
on a per request basis right now. And yes, Jason it is my itch so I am
trying to work out how I might scratch it :-) ).
