I do not think it is a good idea to split the list. The only thing we'll see if we do that is frustrated users posting the same questions to both lists ... However, an approach used on the pic chip list ( VERY high traffic ) is to have a number of different opening tags in the subject line ( ie [docs] [deploy] etc ) so that they can be filtered properly or automated more easily.
