Nothing comes to mind, unless you count his movie roles as intentionally 
self-deprecating.

Early in his tenure, I remember Jay making some joke about a small 
loincloth-like garment a celebrity was showing that he had to wear on some 
trip.  Jay implied that he was too big (not too fat) to wear it.   My immediate 
reaction was that Carson would have gone the other way, and I suspect Conan 
would too.
