It almost goes without saying that, while Leno's schtick was to take
ordinary people on the street and help them look stupid, Steve Allen
was able to point a camera out the window and improvise brilliantly
funny scenarios about what those people were doing.

But comparing Steve Allen to Jay Leno is like comparing, well, Steve
Allen to Jay Leno.
