I'd love to see "Guys and Dolls" too, but there's a concert version at
Carnegie Hall this April, with Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally and Patrick
Wilson, and I assume PBS may be taping that. Nothing official yet, though.
CBS actually signed Reba to reprise "Annie Get Your Gun" for TV right after
she did it on Broadway in 2001 - but she later complained that they dropped
the project while she was doing her first sitcom. I hate to say it, but if
NBC did it now, they'd probably get someone closer to Carrie's age than
Reba's.
And yes, "She Loves Me" would be my first choice, too, but you're right
that it would never be chosen. So sad that Jim Aubrey cancelled the
proposed Julie Andrews/Dick Van Dyke movie version when he took over MGM.
(Say, if we're doing it for TV, can we get Dick Van Dyke as the boss? Ah,
one can dream.)
I expect they'll go for something super-familiar like "My Fair Lady."
("Grease," especially in its stage incarnation, strikes me as too raunchy
to follow up "Sound of Music.")
