Lorne was Conan's executive producer in the early years of Late Night. I
think Lorne left when Conan set up his own production company and I don't
remember reading about any rift between them.

In a recent interview Lorne was asked if Conan's fate might have been
different if Lorne was still involved with the show and Lorne responded
with a shrug.
