The entire Marvel franchise (except maybe Jessica Jones) is driven by teen-aged boys and middle-aged men reminiscing about their old comic book collections.

One point to inject into the conversation: Having attained a useless communications degree, I was exposed to marketing classes. And I read studies and surveys and polls that all indicated women are the biggest decision-makers in media. On dates, women choose the movie. In the car, women choose the radio station. At home, women choose what to watch. More books are bought by women than men.
So when it comes to who is a big box office draw and who makes more money per picture, one needs to take into account that studios put out media the masses will consume, and women want Iron Man, not Wonder Woman. Is it fair that Robert Downey Jr will make more than Gal Gadot? Nope, but in the end, women set the value of the actors.

Maybe I'm biased because of all the horrible award shows I worked, but even if the next decade of Oscars, Emmys, and Grammys were all won by African American Muslim women, it would still be a superficial victory.
