Hilary Swank won two Oscars yet still had to go to the celebration of an Asian thug dictator to get a paycheck, Halle Berry won an Oscar but she gets hired for her looks and her body. But just getting a nomination makes a lot of actors more high profile and gets them parts and paychecks they would not have otherwise gotten.
Career wise, though, a nomination seems to help a director more than an actor.
