### Confirmed on Radeon AI Pro R9700
**System**
- Distribution: Linux Mint 22 (Ubuntu 24.04 base)
- Kernel: `6.17.0-42-generic`
- GPU: ASRock Radeon AI Pro R9700
- PCI ID: `1002:7551`, subsystem `1849:5413`
- Working firmware package: `20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.3`
- Affected firmware package: `20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.4`
**Observed behavior**
I reproduced the regression twice. After upgrading only
`linux-firmware-amd-graphics` from `…3.3` to `…3.4` and rebooting, the
monitor connected to the R9700 remained dark. The graphical desktop
became unresponsive; on the second attempt, graphical login also failed.
A monitor connected to the integrated GPU still provided access to the
system.
The kernel log for the R9700 (`0000:03:00.0`) showed:
Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x07002F00
failed to load ucode DMCUB(0x3D)
Wait for DMUB auto-load failed: 3
**Workaround and result**
Downgrading *only* `linux-firmware-amd-graphics` to `…3.3` restored the
R9700 display output and graphical login after reboot. The kernel then
reported:
Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x0A000800
DMUB hardware initialized: version=0x0A000800
No other graphics packages or display settings were changed during the
second test.
