thanks for the info, I was aware of the Certification Program but I thought it was something similar to Cisco CCNP or Microsoft MCSE (i.e. software knowledge)...
However, the way the Ubuntu Hardware Certification is presented seems to be for professionals that wants their (specific) hardware to run Ubuntu, for example a big enterprise who has bought HP Laptops and want them to be supported by Ubuntu for a forthcoming migration to GNU/Linux for all employees.
I was referring to the certification of Hardware Manufacturers' hardware directly ...
Are you sure we are talking about the same thing/process ?

This is something that Canonical is paying particular attention to right
now, with the very important 6.06 LTS release, and the announcement of the
Ubuntu Certification Programme a couple of months back. One of the areas of
certification is... Hardware. :-)
