I'm looking into buying a laptop from a local company that offered to
install Ubuntu on it (they use the same laptop with Ubuntu themselves).
There are probably a couple of other small companies offering the same.

They don't have the money to pay for Ubuntu hardware certification
though.  Not even the clone builder they are a reseller of could do this
and still make a profit on it (or they would have to sell it more
expensive than a laptop with Windows).

Most of these companies sell/build laptops based on MSI (or maybe
sometimes ASUS) barebones.  OTOH I think they would be really happy if
MSI paid for the hardware certification...
