Probably yes, but you can never underestimate the brand value, reach
and recall with an ad like that. For a lay person (read, non-technical
PC user) the ad should be simple, eyecatching and make them curious to
know more about an alternative (to Windows) OS.

Very true, Telling people around us to try an alternative OS like
Ubuntu is an uphill task as in India piracy is rampant and few will
care about the philosophical aspect of freedom (as far as they are
concerned pirated s/w is free ... duh!). Many care about is their data
(loss/retention), whether it will work/play as the current OS does. If
they have to take the trouble to change formats, they simply dont
bother.... why? their friends/family dont use it so they dont want to
take all that trouble for nothing.
