People propose wild ideas all the time, if there us benefit it may stick. Some of the issues in multicast arise from that early thinking not getting evolved with large use. Multicasting for VC with 4 people was never a good use but that baggage has held multicast back (people don't want large state on all routers) I'd not bother with ipv4 multicast now, ipv6 refined things a bit for multicast so v6 ssm is what we'd want to do. brandon
