Yeah, iPod is plug it in and use it like a SCSI drive. Which pooches iTunes or whatever synchronization software you use on your other computer. Meddling with iPods from your non-home computer is extremely extremely dangerous and will likely end up with you having to wipe everything to get it working again. They have some kind of database stored in the file system and any updates to the filesystem without corresponding database updates basically lock you out from using your iPod with ipod-made software.
