That's where we're fortunate in Alaska. We have tidal grids to do things like transducer replacement on. I expect the EPA will be taking those away from us before long though. Nothing sensible like that is allowed to stay these days.

As Perry suggested, by taking it one wire at a time, you can group your wiring in to a nice neat bundle and slowly the spaghetti will be gone. Probably the first thing to do is develop a plan and visualize it. It seems very complicated and intimidating because of all the extra useless wiring you see. It will take you a little time but you will really be proud of your baby once it is complete. Our Home Depot has tinned wiring along with stainless connectors and, as you might expect are much cheaper than going to your local boat store. The stuff from O'riellys, Autozone, Pep Boys, and the rest won't hold up there. Of course, if everybody quits doing business with the local stores, they will eventually go under, and that's not good either. Kind of a damned if you do and damned if you don't kinda thing. My only complaint with my 48 footer is the designers obviously counted on little 4 foot midgets to do the work under the dash. I have one little hole to crawl through on my belly. Now, if someone could come up with a way to change out a transducer without having to pay for a haul out or sinking the boat, I'm all ears.
