I have a couple of steel tanks on my 36 Sport Sedan that will have to
be replaced. To get them out of the engine compartment hatches will
require pulling both engines. However, I had one yard suggest an
alternative: Cut holes in the sides of the hull, pull the tanks out
the side, install new, and patch the hull. Pretty horrifying thought
at first, but the yard told me that they do it all the time; it's not
worse than having to patch a hull after punching a hole in it from
hitting a rock, and since they can choose where to cut, they can make
it look as good as new. And it would cost less than having to do a
double engine pull and reinstall and realignment. They've even taken
tanks out through the bottom of the hull.

Just suggesting you can think outside the box. Or hull.
