Interesting.

I draw more from the port tank as well on my 1973 42'. I manage the
balance using the salon valves. I just leave the stb open and close
(or partially close) the port valve to balance. Seems to work fine.
When I close them both and draw only from the forward middle tank it
goes VERY quickly because it returns to the side tanks. (port to port,
stb to stb).
I do have a fill valve for my middle tank.
Been adjusting the valves for 12 yrs without a problem. I do set an
alarm as a reminder when I am on one tank........
