Kerry - Tank vents are known for getting blockages; frequently from spiders' nests. You might try disconnecting the line from inside the hull, and running a wire down through it, if you can't easily access the line on the top of the fuel tank. Oh, before you do any of that, take a cloth and try cleaning the outside screen of the vent fitting; it may have a thick spiders' nest or web covering it. It's that screen I'd suspect before any line blockage. You might also try taking the fitting off and cleaning it out from the back side with some brake or carburetor cleaner.
