If you send me your email I can send you a picture of a first class
locking handle I used for my 42 convertible.

HI Bob.  I have been having "issues" with getting mine put
together.  I found a good shop to cut and polish a nice polycarbonate tinted
door for me and the fitament is great.  They did a nice job.   My challenge has
been the hardware to put it all together.  I have found VERY little I like for
lockable door knob hardware (stainless of course) that works without it being a
hollow core door.  I have used West Marine, Fisheries Supply and a few others
with little luck.  Im holding off until I find the right hardware.  Honestly,
if I could have found someone in the Puget Sound area that didn't want to
charge me a ridiculous $2k+ to build me a new door, I would have gone with a
wooden one.  I know they are more work but I like the more classic look better.
The Polycarbonate will be very easy to clean, will never rot and is plenty
stout to keep people out that I would want to keep out.

Well, the rain this winter has permanently ruined the look
of my cabin door, finally. (42' aft cabin 1973)
I would love to see some pictures of the way people
have dealt with a door change.
Kerry, I know you were working on a new plastic
door. Is it done? I'd love to hear how it came out. I have to do something
before this summer. Also I feel the need to put new
hardware to replace the cheap plastic original knob which will mean a change in
the framing as well.
                               Thanks everyone.
